Plywood is a material manufactured from thin layers or plies of wood veneer that are glued together with adjacent layers having their wood grain rotated up to 90 degrees to one another.

It is an engineered wood from the family of manufactured boards which include medium density fibreboard mdf and particle board chipboard. These thin layers also called plies are glued together in alternating right angles to create a cross grain pattern. Manufactured from thin sheets of cross laminated veneer and bonded under heat and pressure with strong adhesives plywood panels have superior dimensional stability and an excellent strength to weight ratio and are highly resistant to impacts chemicals and changes in environmental temperature and humidity. Plywood is a popular choice for residential and light duty construction and is made from thin sheets of veneer that have been peeled from debarked wood.
