Borosilicate glass abs and pla filaments along with many other materials print directly on to pei surface without the need for additional adhesives tapes or slurry. On one i purchased a sheet of 0 3mm thick self adhesive pei and stuck it down to the glass. Pei polyetherimide is a strong rigid plastic that withstands high temperatures and offers excellent electrical insulation over a wide range of temperatures. Pei polymer is extruded by ensinger in sheet and rod shapes using sabic s ultem resin.

The material has excellent dimensional stability due in part to its good creep resistance and low moisture absorption. Been printing on it since its great to be fair though the bare mirror also prints quite well but it needs more cleaning i used windex to clean it and then wipe with ipa to get the windex residue off. Single 1mm thick sheet installs quickly on top of existing flat build platforms e g. Purchase a sheet of 0 03 0 04 0 75mm 1mm thick pei thinner can be used but it is more difficult to apply exactly flat to your surface.

In filled grades the addition of glass fiber reinforcement coupled with ensinger s proprietary extrusion techniques provides users with a polyetherimide offering that has both greater tensile strength and rigidity while also improving dimensional stability. The opaque natural pei sheet has a standard tolerance and meets american society for testing and materials astm d5205 pei0113 specifications.
