Foundation walls and poured in place curbs are rarely straight.
If you find your plans require laying pavers against vents siding or other materials choose another patio plan.
However in order to get the proper level of the patio to the back door i will have to go above the brick foundation lining into the vinyl siding on the outside of the house.
Installing wood siding and trim against masonry.
Then the pavers would be butted against this flashing.
The result is a paver patio that is retained on all sides with retaining wall block supported from below in an icpi approved fashion using geogrid geotextile.
I am thinking that i will have to remove the sidin.
After the masonry steps are installed i cover the area between the door sill and the top step of the stoop with a threshold kick plate.
Start by laying the pavers on the longest straight wall.
Always use a string line that is spaced approximately off the wall and follow that.
It ll stand like that for decades and should a repair ever be needed it ll be quick and easy instead of costing thousands and requiring the tear down of much of the patio.
Never assume anything is straight.
A small gap against a wall will never be seen upon completion of project.
This means that you can lay the pavers against the concrete of your foundation as it rises from the earth.
Typically i use 5 4 inch piece of pvc since this is touching the masonry as well.
