Osha 1910 29 b contains system requirements that employers must follow to ensure guardrail systems will protect workers from falling to lower levels.

All mesh crossings shall be secured to prevent enlargement of the mesh opening.

Osha requires that workers exposed to a fall hazard must have fall protection.
The warning line system shall consist of ropes wires or chains and supporting stanchions 29 cfr 1926 502 f 2.
1910 29 b 3 osha requires that guardrail systems must be able to withstand a force of at least 200 lbs of point load without failure.
